Meeting of the Chapter Officers
May 25, 2022
Present: Kendra Nickel, President, Krista Richardson, Membership Director, Jeremy Monroe, Secretary/Treasurer, Amy Ricker, Past President, Cody Sanderson, President-Elect, Belinda Welch, Social Media/Website Chair, Andrea Goings, Co-Programming Director, and Kevin Rigg, Co-Programming Director.
Absent: None.
Next meeting(s): July Board Meeting (7/27/22) @ 8:30 a.m. via Zoom, August Social Event (8/11/22) – The Met, September Chapter Meeting – Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace – Virtual Meeting @ 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m.
The agenda of the meeting is detailed below:
- Board meeting minutes from April 27, 2022 meeting were reviewed and approved.
- Chair reports were provided prior to the Board meeting and are included at the end of this document.
- Chair Report discussion held during the Board meeting:
- Programming
- Have tentative commitment from speaker for October chapter meeting.
- Discussed menu options for August social and approved 1 free drink ticket for members for social event.
- President
- Growing membership – we’re at 89% of our Membership goal for the year. Need to get to 66 members to reach our goal.
- Discussed call for new Board members in September as well as the ability for current Board members to contact members who may be interested in serving. Belinda suggested posting information on LinkedIn.
- Programming
- Old Business
- Ohio SHRM State Council reimbursement for February 2022 speaker received.
- Cody has SHRM At-Large member listing. Will complete review for potential connections and pass along to another Board member.
- George Lehman was provided speaker honorarium.
- New Business
- Board approved $50 fee for non-members to attend the November Legal Update session.
- Board approved Certification Reimbursement process for members. Information will be uploaded to Members Only portion of the website and Kendra/Andrea will collaborate on communication to members.

Chair Reports:
President –
- Yay!! We won the top award for SHRM Chapters—the Platinum Award!! I’m so proud of all of the work this team has done to make that possible. Thank you, so much.
- Our most recent eBlast went out on Monday, May 2. See the attached email report from SHRM about its performance—ours continue to perform better than most according to their benchmarks. Our engagement wasn’t quite as high on this one though.
- I put together a draft of a certification reimbursement program for us based on some others that I found. It is attached.
- Our tax-exempt status is a little wonky—they appear to have misclassified our tax-exempt status so I am working to get that corrected.
Membership –
Lima SHRM has 59 active members in the system for 2022.
- New Members – 14
- Renewals - 45
The chapter has added 14 new members since January 2022.
- January 2022 – 5 new members
- February 2022 – 1 new member
- March 2022 – 1 new member
- April 2022 – 6 new members
- May 2022 – 1 new member
Secretary/Treasurer –
- Current balance of $11,014.13 in the Chapter bank account.
- $238.76 have been collected from the 50/50 drawings to go towards our SHRM Foundation donation.
- We have 2 new members’ (Gardner & LaRue) who have yet to pay their Membership dues. I’ll be following up with them next week as a reminder.
- We did receive a Thank you card from The Samaritan House for the donation we provided to them in lieu of the speaker honorarium.
Programming -
- August 11th Summer Happy Hour at the Met from 4:30p-6:30p
- September 15th – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Work place (virtual) from 11:30a-1p
- October 20th – Tentative – Chelsea Benton – “Falling Forward”
- November 17th – Legal Update (1/2 day)
Social Media –
- Updated the website with previous months board minutes.
- Posted on LinkedIn about SHRM guest speakers, SHRM Excel Award, International HR Day and May Meeting pictures.
- Gained 10 new followers on LinkedIn for May.
- Posted 2 new job postings on Lima SHRM website.
Past President –
I have not heard back from any companies’ regarding the sponsor letters we’ve sent.
