Meeting of the Chapter Officers
January 26, 2022
Present: Kendra Nickel, President, Krista Richardson, Membership Director, Jeremy Monroe, Secretary/Treasurer, Amy Ricker, Past President, Kevin Rigg, Co-Programming Director, Belinda Welch, Social Media/Website Chair, and Andrea Goings, Co-Programming Director.
Absent: Cody Sanderson, Co-Programming Chair.
Next meeting(s): February Membership Meeting (2/17) – Lauren Schieffer presenting “Before it Comes to Blows – Managing Conflict from Higher Ground.” (Zoom – 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.), February Board Meeting – 2/23/22 @ 8:30 a.m. via Zoom.
The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m.
The agenda of the meeting is detailed below:
- Board meeting minutes from December 1, 2022 meeting were reviewed and approved.
- Chair reports were provided prior to the Board meeting and are included at the end of this document.
- Chair Report discussion held during the Board meeting:
- Secretary/Treasurer
- Updated Board on current account balance.
- Membership
- Discussed recruiting/outreach to past members not renewing thus far for 2022.
- Reminder emails will be sent to 2021 members who have yet to renew for 2022.
- Social Media
- Actively using LinkedIn to help promote membership growth and renewal rate of past members.
- Can use chapter Gmail account for document storage. Think about what documents you use that could be moved to this account.
- Programming
- General discussion held over March presentation slides.
- February and March chapter meetings will be held via Zoom.
- April chapter meeting scheduled for AM. Old Barn not open. Look for alternate location.
- President
- Membership growth goal for 2022 is 15% (need 66 members by year end)
- Chapter renewal rate is currently 72%.
- Goal of holding fiscally responsible meetings for 2022 includes finding sponsors for in-person chapter meetings to help cover member lunch expenses.
- Lima SHRM EIN is active but we’ve never filed a tax return. After discussion, Board determined to apply for tax exempt status. Fee of $275 would apply.
- Excel Award Application Discussion. Krista and Cody to help with information.
- Secretary/Treasurer to develop 2022 Annual Budget/Forecast.
- Discussion surrounding posting HR job openings. Determined a 30 day limit will apply with a $50 fee for members and $100 fee for non-members.

Chair Reports:
President –
- Both the Chapter Leadership Information Form (CLIF) and SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE) reports for our chapter have been submitted. As a result of our work last year, we are eligible to apply for an Excel award. Applications for Excel are due by March 15.
- I am preparing an eBlast for delivery on Monday, February 7 to highlight Lauren Scheiffer’s presentation that month.
- I am still trying to connect with Amy on a time to meet regarding the work of obtaining meeting sponsors.
- I would like to spend our meeting time discussing:
- Goals for our chapter for 2022—membership growth, budget creation, programming?
- Holding fiscally responsible meetings
- Tax-exempt status
- Excel award application (see attached workbook, especially the categories on page 2)
Membership –
- Lima Chapter SHRM has 46 active members in the system for 2022.

January 26, 2022: I sent a third membership renewal email reminder to 16 individuals who haven’t renewed their membership yet.

January 5, 2022: I sent a second membership renewal email reminder to 28 individuals who haven’t renewed their membership yet.

December 20, 2021 - I sent a membership renewal email reminder to 34 individuals who hadn’t renewed their membership yet.

November 16, 2021 - I sent a membership renewal email to all active members.

Secretary/Treasurer –
- The attached file is a chapter Financial Summary for calendar year 2021
- Our current bank account balance (as of 1/26/22) is $11,409.65
- I have received 2022 Dues payments from 45 chapter members and show 4 payments outstanding.
- It has been tougher to track/match the members intending to continue in 2022 with their payments due to the online process. Not everyone completes every step, or in order,…
- It will be good to cross reference Krista’s membership numbers at the next Board meeting to make sure we’re accurate.
Programming -

- Caught up Board Meeting Minutes on the website.
- Added the “Sponsorship” section to the website.
- Added the “HR Jobs” section – blank for now.
- Posting on LinkedIn more often, at least once a week.
Past President –
- Kendra and I have met to discuss sponsorships and our options on how to get the word out.
- I will go through the chamber directory and my Rotary and Safety Council contacts and send letters out.
- I will look for possibly March, April, May, September and November for 2022.
