    Lima Society for Human Resource Management (LSHRM)

    Meeting of the Chapter Officers

    February 23, 2022

    Present: Kendra Nickel, President, Krista Richardson, Membership Director, Jeremy Monroe, Secretary/Treasurer, Amy Ricker, Past President, Cody Sanderson, President-Elect, Belinda Welch, Social Media/Website Chair, and Andrea Goings, Co-Programming Director.

    Absent: Kevin Rigg, Co-Programming Director.

    Next meeting(s): March Membership Meeting (3/17) – Recruitment Strategies with Tim Koirtyohann (virtual mtg. 11:30 – 1pm), March Board Meeting – 3/23/22 @ 8:30 a.m. via Zoom. 

    The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. 

    The agenda of the meeting is detailed below:

    1. Board meeting minutes from January 26, 2022 meeting were reviewed and approved.
    2. Chair reports were provided prior to the Board meeting and are included at the end of this document. 
    3. Chair Report discussion held during the Board meeting:
      1. Secretary/Treasurer
        1. Updated Board on current account balance.
        2. Reviewed 2022 Chapter Budget spreadsheet.  Revise per below:
          1. Add line item for Board member travel
          2. Add line item for Tax exempt filing fee
          3. Add Job Posting into estimated revenue.
      2. Membership
        1. Discussed 14 prior members not renewing for 2022.  Review listing with Secretary/Treasurer.    
        2. Requested to send information to chapter members regarding Rhodes St. internships and practicums.  After discussion, request was approved. 
      3. Social Media
        1. Will start posting and sharing programming details a month prior to each event. 
      4. Programming
        1. Discussed possible locations for May meeting with Matt Huffman.  Suggestion made for The City Club.  General discussion held over March presentation slides. 
      5. President
        1. Discussed using the Chamber to promote upcoming chapter meetings.
        2. Raised the issue of Board member travel.  After discussion, Board agreed to provide reimbursement for mileage to required State SHRM meetings and travel expenses for National SHRM event. 
        3. Two non-chapter members attended the February meeting (Donna Tremmel and Jessica Ripplinger).  Both need invoiced for the $20 non-member fee. 
      6. Past President
        1. Have two possible meeting sponsorships lined up with Lenville Smith & Associates (April meeting) and Jennifer Mills for a future meeting.
    4. Old Business

    Chair Reports:

    President –

    • Cody, Krista, and I will meet shortly to complete and submit our chapter’s Excel Award submission for 2021. Those are due by March 15.
    • Our most recent eBlast went out on February 7. See the attached email report from SHRM about its performance—ours continue to perform better than most according to their benchmarks. I’ll draft another for April to publicize Matt Huffman’s attendance.
    • Amy is now off and running with our sponsorship program and opportunities. (I’ll let her give her own updates about this going forward.)
    • I’ll be attending the Ohio SHRM State Council meeting via Zoom this coming Friday. Ohio SHRM also has a volunteer leader conference on Friday, March 11, but I will not attend that one since I’m not really new to the role this year.

     

    Membership –

    Lima Chapter SHRM has 49 active members in the system for 2022.

    • New Members – 6
    • Renewals - 43

    Lima Chapter SHRM has 63 “active” members in the system overall.

    • February 28, 2022: I will “expire” 14 “active” members in the system who haven’t renewed their memberships for 2022.
    • January 26, 2022: I sent a third membership renewal email reminder to 16 individuals who haven’t renewed their membership yet.
    • January 5, 2022: I sent a second membership renewal email reminder to 28 individuals who haven’t renewed their membership yet.
    • December 20, 2021 - I sent a membership renewal email reminder to 34 individuals who hadn’t renewed their membership yet.
    • November 16, 2021 - I sent a membership renewal email to all active members.

    The chapter has added 4 new members since January 2022.

    • February 2022 – 1 new member
    • January 2022 – 5 new members

    The chapter added 23 new members in 2021.

    • November 2021 – 2 new members
    • October 2021 – 1 new member
    • September 2021 – 1 new member
    • August 2021 – 0 new members
    • July 2021 – 0 new members
    • June 2021 – 2 new members
    • May 2021 – 1 new member
    • April 2021 – 3 new members
    • March 2021 – 2 new members
    • February 2021- 3 new members
    • January 2021 – 8 new members

     

    Secretary/Treasurer –

    • $10,708.41 in the bank account.
    • I have record of 46 paid members for 2022 with 1 person yet to pay.
    • Submitted 2022 Chapter Budget file for review.

     

    Programming -

    February Chapter Meeting: Lauren Schieffer (Colonel’s Daughter) presented on Conflict Management – 31 people registered (25 attended) with very positive feedback. No suggestions for future topics

    Upcoming Meetings: 

    • March Meeting – Recruitment Strategies with Tim Koirtyohann (virtual from 11:30-1pm)
    • April Meeting – Emotional Intelligence with George Lehman (Face to Face at Ohio Means Jobs Conference Center from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m.
    • May Meeting (Friday, May 6th) – Senator Matt Huffman! Face to Face – location TBD from 11:30-1p
      • Suggestions for location? Ohio Means Jobs & RSC are both unavailable
    • June – August – Summer Break
    • September Meeting – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion with Greg Braylock, Jr, Chief Diversity, Equity, Inclusion with ProMedica (virtual – time TBD)
