Tim Sackett is a highly regarded HR and talent acquisition expert, CEO of HRU Technical Resources, and a leading voice in the world of human resources technology. With over 20 years of experience, Tim has become a trusted thought leader and influencer in HR, recognized as one of the Top 10 Global HR Influencers. He is also the world’s foremost expert on workplace hugging—because who doesn’t need a little more human connection? Tim’s career spans both corporate and consulting sides of HR. He’s held roles such as Staffing Director at Applebee’s International, ShopKo Stores, Inc., and Sparrow Health System. His journey also includes two impactful stints at HRU, first as a young professional straight out of college and later as CEO after a nine-year hiatus on the corporate side—a return so close to the Biblical Prodigal Son story that it’s almost uncanny!
In addition to his leadership at HRU, Tim is a passionate advocate for talent acquisition and development. He is an active HR blogger, conference speaker, and a vocal supporter of a Diet Mountain Dew fountain in every office. Tim believes that the core function of HR is to attract and develop the best talent, and he’s dedicated to making that a reality for every organization he touches.
Tim earned his degree in Human Resources from Central Michigan University. He is currently the President-elect of the Association of Talent Acquisition Professionals (ATAP) and continues to shape the future of the HR profession.
When he's not thinking about talent strategy or workplace innovation, Tim enjoys life in DeWitt, Michigan with his Hall of Fame wife, three energetic sons, and their dog, Scout.
