    Lima Society for Human Resource Management (LSHRM)

    Meeting of the Chapter Officers

    April 27, 2022

    Present: Kendra Nickel, President, Krista Richardson, Membership Director, Jeremy Monroe, Secretary/Treasurer, Amy Ricker, Past President, Cody Sanderson, President-Elect, Belinda Welch, Social Media/Website Chair, Andrea Goings, Co-Programming Director, and Kevin Rigg, Co-Programming Director.

    Absent: None.                    

    Next meeting(s): May Membership Meeting (5/6/22) – Legislative Update with Matt Huffman (Allen County Ohio Means Jobs 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.), May Board Meeting – 5/25/22 @ 8:30 a.m. via Zoom. 

    The meeting was called to order at 8:30 a.m. 

    The agenda of the meeting is detailed below:

    1. Board meeting minutes from March 23, 2022 meeting were reviewed and approved.
    2. Chair reports were provided prior to the Board meeting and are included at the end of this document. 
    3. Chair Report discussion held during the Board meeting:
      1. Secretary/Treasurer
        1. Correction to Chair Report – Londell Smith & Associates has paid sponsorship fee for April chapter meeting.
        2. 50/50 Drawing update from April chapter meeting raised $73.76 towards SHRM Foundation donation.  It was suggested to email chapter after each meeting to promote this concept and raise awareness for participation at the next meeting.
        3. Currently waiting on SHRM State Council reimbursement for the February chapter meeting.
      2. Programming
        1. Will provide contact information to provide Honorarium to George Lehman for presenting at the April chapter meeting.
        2. Discussion held over Summer Social Event.  Determination was made to have a Roundtable and Networking Event at The Met in Lima on August 4th or August 11th depending on availability. 
        3. Currently working on an October speaker. 
        4. Discussion held on how to increase attendance for May chapter meeting with Matt Huffman.  Details below:
          1. Chapter members can bring 1 guest for free
          2. Invite Ohio MeansJobs staff
          3. Invite HR Association of Western Ohio members
          4. Send follow up emails twice before event
          5. Panera bread for lunch
      3. President
        1. Growing membership – Each Board member will receive listing of SHRM members in the area and reach out to LinkedIn contacts in common to encourage membership.  Next eBlast with member testimonials to be sent the week of 5/2/22.
        2. Honorarium for Tim K (February presenter) was requested to be donated to local charity.  After discussion, Board will provide $100 honorarium to the Samaritan House. 
        3. Large Balance in Account – Board discussed additional ideas for funds.  Kendra to develop document for program to reimburse students/members for certification exam fees.
        4. Chapter member survey was reviewed and discussed.  No changes offered.
        5. Plan to call for new Board members in September, member survey in September, new Board member vote in October.

    Chair Reports:

    President –

    • Cody, Krista, and I met at the very end of February to prepare our Excel Award submission, and it was submitted on Friday, March 4, in advance of the deadline. We should hear back sometime next month about those results.
    • I submitted our Q2 eBlast for sending on May 2 to promote membership with Lima SHRM using the testimonials we received.
    • I continue to work with the Lima Chamber to determine who to best promote our chapter and its programs with that group.
    • I had a Zoom meeting with the current President of the Human Resources Association of Western Ohio. They are not a SHRM affiliated chapter, but they are interested in partnering with us for some larger meetings. I shared our May meeting information with them and plan to do so for our legal update also. They will let us know about their one-day HR seminar they plan in partnership with Edison Community College.
    • I received the letter from the IRS granting us federal tax-exempt status.

     

    Membership –

    Lima SHRM has 55 active members in the system for 2022.

    • New Members – 10
    • Renewals - 45

    The chapter has added 10 new members since January 2022.

    • April 2022 – 3 new members
    • March 2022 – 1 new member
    • February 2022 – 1 new member
    • January 2022 – 5 new members

    *There are currently two (2) new members pending Board approval.

     

    Secretary/Treasurer –

    • Current balance in the account of $11,057.96.
    • Outstanding expenses = $0.00
    • Outstanding future revenue:
      • Annual membership dues from 4 new members (McKenzie, Slygh, Stanley, and LaRue)
      • $10 to be deposited from April meeting 50/50 drawing

     

    Programming -

    • May 6th – Senator Matt Huffman – 16 participants registered as of today.
    • June  - August break – need to determine when to do a social event
    • September 15th – Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Work place (virtual)
    • October – Pending
    • November 17th – Legal Update (1/2 day)

     

    Social Media –

    • Added an October Lima Chamber event to the website.
    • Posted events on LinkedIn and pictures from April Meeting.
    • Gained 10 new followers in April on LinkedIn.

     

    Past President –

    • I have sent out 20 letters out.

    I have not heard back from my multiple emails regarding NexGen for May that they had contacted me about.
